Frequently Asked Questions
There are always questions in life, so here are the answers for all things INDiPOD. We’re always happy to help, so if we haven’t covered what you want to know, just email us at hello@indipod.life
What parts of the country do you cover?
We cover London and the South East.
Does the price include delivery?
Delivery is included in the price, but there are circumstances with regard to urban and town areas where additional charges may apply, we will flag up any applicable charges when we carry out a site survey.
Do I need planning permission?
The INDiPOD does not normally require planning permission as they fall within permitted development guidelines. However, in some cases such as national parks, areas of outstanding natural beauty, conservation areas and world heritage sites planning may be required, ‘BUT DO NOT WORRY’ you can still join the INDiPOD journey: If your project exceeds the permitted development regulations INDiPOD planning consultants are here to help you with your specific requirements.
Do I need to prepare the site area?
In an ideal world we would prefer to come to a clear working space free of clutter with all garden plants, shrubs, trees etc cut back 1 metre from the working area. We are aware life is not always as straight forward as we may like and that you may require our help to achieve a clear space. INDiPOD are here to help, and this can be assessed and discussed during the site survey.
How much space do I need around the pod?
Ideally 1 meter from the boundary fences to comply with permitted development but we can work with as little as 500mm. A clear working area of a minimum 500mm is desirable to allow our craftsmen space to work. There will always be an oddity to overcome but that’s just INDi.
How long will you be on site?
‘We know you will love us!’, but we also know you will not be wanting us around too long. Depending on your chosen INDiPOD and its specification, please allow on average 5-10 working days depending on foundation and build requirements.
Do I need foundations?
Our preferred method for foundations is helical piles. These are ground screws that literally screw into the ground, we then bolt the steel cassette of the INDiPOD directly to the top of the screw. This method reduces the need of digging and removing of spoil from site and the mess that can create. But as we know, life is not always straight-forward, so in some cases, we resort to traditional foundations e.g. concrete slab or a crushed and compacted materials base, depending on ground conditions. This will be discussed fully at your pre-build site survey.
Electrical connection to mains supply
The INDiPOD comes with all internal electrics fitted and a consumer unit for the external supply to come into. If the supply is not available, we can arrange for it to be brought from the closest available supply. This will require an armoured cable to be run to the INDiPOD. Cables can be below or above ground depending on your requirements and the site conditions.
Is it heated?
Heated? “Oh Yes”, all INDiPODS come with adjustable underfloor heating. Combined with our 150mm insulation, this not only allows you to enjoy the perfect ambient temperature, it also means your walls are free for more important things, like vintage guitars, framed photos, mirrors or home cinema screens.
Does the price include decoration?
Colour is INDiPOD’s thing. The interior comes with an internal painted colour finish of your choosing – so you can match it, clash it or even calm it – what colour are you?
Are the pods just standard or can they be bespoke?
At INDiPOD, we don’t like the word standard, it implies ‘normal or average’ and that’s not how we think. The INDiPOD is and always will be a unique space for you to explore your passions. Our standard fixtures and fittings are pretty darn cool, but they can always be customised, which can be discussed during the design consultation. Can we bespoke the size? ‘YES WE CAN BESPOKE THE SIZE’, we would love to INDi your design from concept to completion, just ask us.
